Dear Valued Member,



As we approach the end of 2009 and the Holiday Season, we would like to thank you for all your support and dedication demonstrated throughout the year in respect to the outlined goals of the PROJECTO 2009 Committee. Despite the economic setbacks in our communities, it is with pleasure and gratitude that we inform you of the outstanding results we (you) have been able to achieve. As outlined at the beginning of the year, we had 4 major events that were part of Projecto 2009, which consisted of the Noite à Portuguesa Dinner, the Golf Tournament, our annual Nossa Senhora do Monte Feast and the New Year’s Eve celebration.



Having completed the first 3 events with great success, thanks to your generosity and participation, it is our pleasure to personally invite you to attend our New Year’s Eve celebration which will consist of a great dinner and live entertainment as we celebrate our 2009 accomplishments and look forward to a bright and prosperous 2010.



As we have started preparations for this yearly event, which promises to be a highly attended family and friendly celebration, we would like to offer you the assurance of a memorable New Year’s Eve, by describing in detail what we will be offering this year at this venue.



The evening will begin at 6:00 PM with complimentary Martinis, and or soft drinks, followed by dinner composed with the following menu: Sopa à Portuguesa (Typical Portuguese Soup), Salada and with the main entrees being Vitela Assada no Forno com Batata (Oven Baked Marinated Veal with Potatoes), followed with Camarão à Momçabique (Shrimp Mozambique) accompanied with Rice, completed with a variety of Pastelaria Fina ( Fine desserts) from our local Portuguese bakery, served with coffee. Throughout the entire evening the following beverages will be available at no charge: Soda, Sumol, water, Beer, Bica (Expresso like coffee served in a small cup) and the

following wines: REDS- Monte Velho, Vinha do Monte, Bons Ventos; WHITES-Aveleda, Casal Garcia and White Zinfandel. Other wines, cocktails, liquors will be available for purchase (prices to be as marked). Following dinner thru 1:00 AM, we will have an outstanding live band (EDGE) playing your favorite music selections for your dancing pleasure. Prior to midnight, the typical party hats, noise makers, etc will be distributed to everyone as we count down to midnight where we will enjoy and toast with the traditional champagne, followed immediately with a buffet which shall include the most favorable well known Portuguese delicacies such as “Pasteis de Bacalhau” (Codfish cakes or pastries), “Rissóis de Camarão” (Shrimp Rissoles), Leitão (Roasted Suckling Pig), Fruits, Cheese and crackers, and Chicken Wings.



As you can see, we are planning a splendid evening for all to enjoy New Year’s Eve 2009 in a cozy family atmosphere, complete with an outstanding meal and entertainment, in our much anticipated renovated banquet hall.



Please consider this letter as our invitation to you, your family and friends in joining us for a memorable evening as we culminate the final event of Project 2009 in a magnificent manner.



The cost per person for this event is $70 for adults and $35 for children (12 and under). You may purchase tickets from any of our Committee members or inquire at the Club or thru our website for the availability of tickets. Please note that we already have confirmed several tables as sold, and are limiting the total number of people at this event, in order to allow comfortable space for everyone, so please act quickly.

Dear Valued Member & Friends,



It is our sincere wishes to find you and your family in the best of health.



Although we are facing some economic setbacks, our club's goals and expectations are being pursued and progressing actively, thanks to all who visit and support our club in various manners.



The first phase of our addition and renovation project is well on its way, nearing completion, and once completed will certainly elevate a sense of pride for all members and the community in general.



Due to the projected and anticipated cost of such a project, as we focus on the ultimate goal, a committee has been formed to support this aggressive key project, which we have titled: "PROJECT 2009".



This letter is being written with the intent to describe the status of this project and solicit you as a member, with your cooperation and support.



1. On the upcoming 30th of May, with the first phase of the project completed, a "Portuguese Night" (Noite Portuguesa) will be held, which will consist of an excellent meal, performances of Fados and popular dance music.



2. On the 15th of June, a Golf Tournament will be held at the Alpine Country Club, one of the premier courses in our state, which is being coordinated by Mr. Belmiro Pereira and Mr. Joseph Andrade.



3. Our annual feast, Festa de Nossa Senhora do Monte, which is a key part of our outlined project, will be held on August 7th, 8th and 9th, pensively following the same format as in the previous two years. As fund raisers, a sponsorship book will again be published, as well as the traditional raffle (rifa) which shall include higher value prizes.



4. To finalize, we will hold our annual New Year's Eve Celebration, with the presence of an excellent musical band and all the necessary ingredients to make this a successful and memorable event.

Please allow me to take this opportunity to remind all members that our Club will hold other events, such as: Madeira Night (Noite Madeirense) on April 25th, serving the traditional Espetada á Madeirense, and also the much anticipated Club's 86th Anniversary, on September 26th.



Please be reminded that the Ladies Auxiliary Committee holds their monthly dinner on the second Tuesday of every month. In addition, our Club's Soccer Team will hold their dinners on the following dates: March 21st, April 18th and May 16th. All dinners will be promptly served at 6:30 PM.



Please offer your much appreciated support to these events.



Tickets for these events may be obtained at the Club or thru any of our committee members.

Votos sinceros de que esteja desfrutando de boa saúde, na companhia dos seus familiares.

O nosso Clube vai tentando manter-se o mais activo possível, mesmo em momento de crise, graças a todos aqueles que nos visitam e os que nos ajudam de diversas maneiras.

A primeira fase da nossa obra está no bom caminho e quando terminada será de certo, motivo de orgulho para todos os socios e a comunidade em geral.

Devido ao custo elevado da obra, foi formada uma comissão, que levará a cabo algo, a que se chamará "PROJECTO 2009".

Esta carta tem a finalidade de lhe dar a conheçer em que consiste tal projecto e solicitar-lhe como sócio, a sua cooperação e apoio.

1) Vamos levar a efeito no dia 30 de Maio do corrente, e já com a primeira fase concluída,uma noite à Portuguesa, que consiste de uma boa refeição, sessão de Fados e musica para dançar.

2) Realizar-se-á um torneio de Golfe dia 15 de Junho no Alpine Country Club, coordenado por Joe Andrade e Belmiro Pereira.

3) A Festa de Nossa Senhora do Monte, que tambêm faz parte deste projecto, realizar-se-á nos dias 7, 8 e 9 de Agosto, sensivelmente nos mesmos moldes dos últimos dois anos. Haverá um livro para patrocinadores assim como a tradicional Rifa, este ano com bons prémios.

4) A terminar este projecto, temos a festa da Passagem d'ano, com a intenção de apresentarmos um bom conjunto musical e todos os condimentos necessários para que seja um passagem d'ano a não esquecer.

Aproveitamos esta oportunidade para lembrar a todos os sócios que o Clube levará a efeito muitos outros eventos assim como: A Noite Madeirense dia 25 de Abril, com a tradicional carne do espeto.( Esperançados de que a primeira fase da obra esteja concluída.)
O octagésimo sexto Aniversário do Clube está agendado para o dia 26 de Setembro. As Senhoras Auxiliares continuam a ter todas as segundas Terças Feiras de cada mês o seu jantar para a angariacão de fundos. A Secção Desportiva do nosso Clube tem os seus jantares marcádos para os dias 21 de Março, 18 de Abril e 16 de Maio, todos as 6.30 PM. Bilhetes para estes eventos podem ser adquiridos no Bar ou através de qualquer membro da Direcção .
